500 Parade Crew May 2024

Sign up to help participate in the Indy 500 parade!! Every year Troop 245 helps to set up chairs for the AES 500 Parade in downtown Indianapolis. This year we have the opportunity to also march in the parade.

Antique Tractor Show June 19-21

We have been invited back to help with the Antique Tractor and Machinery Association of Johnson County.

They are looking for Scouts and Adults to help staff the gates at the entrance to the event to take money for tickets and pass out flyers. There will be over 150 different antique tractors and farm equipment on display. If you help volunteer, you get free admission to the show.

Summer Camp 2025 - Ransburg Scout Reservation June 22-28

Start getting health forms completed by your family physician. Turn in completed forms to Karen Smith. The health form is valid for 1 year and must be dated after June 28, 2024 for summer camp.

Red River Gorge Campout May 30- June 1, 2025

Where: 2270 Star Gap Rd Stanton, KY 40380

Troop will tent camp and hike through rock formation and the forest. We might also kayak through an underground limestone quarry.

Swim Tests!!-Last night!

We have 1 date remaining for Scouts to do their swim test. May 15 from 7-8PM. We will test at CGHS pool, enter through the doors across from the football stadium bleachers (see attached map for parking and door to enter). If those doors are locked, enter through the Hall of Excellence and walk down the hall toward the pool. Scouts only need to test if they are signed up for the following:

Merit Badges: canoeing, kayaking, motorboating, rowing, small-boat sailing, swimming, and water sports.
Firecrafter program (not Camper or Woodsman)
Open swim
Any adult attending summer camp who want to do training in aquatics

It is recommended that all Scouts have an active Swim test on file for any possible future canoe trips.
